Magnitude 6.9 quake hits off Solomon Islands: USGS

SYDNEY (AFP) - A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck off the Solomon Islands on Monday, the US Geological Survey said, but there was no Pacific-wide tsunami warning issued for the tremor-prone region.
